At PS 205, The Clarion School, our Gifted and Talented (G&T) program is designed to provide an enriched and stimulating educational experience for exceptionally talented and motivated students. We believe in nurturing the unique abilities and potential of these young learners, fostering an environment where they can thrive intellectually, creatively, and socially.
Our G&T program focuses on rigorous instruction through curriculum compacting, a technique for differentiating instruction that allows for curricular adjustments and enrichment opportunities that accelerate learning beyond the standard curriculum. The program is crafted to challenge students academically, encouraging critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.
We understand that gifted students have diverse talents and passions. As such, our G&T program extends beyond traditional academics to encompass the arts, technology, STEAM, civics, and community engagement. Students have an opportunity to participate in project-based learning, join our Science and Math Olympiad teams, participate in band, orchestra, or chorus, learn to play the violin and chess, create artwork or a dance routine with Marquis Studio, and perform on stage with Inside Broadway.
One of the hallmarks of our Gifted and Talented program is the supportive and collaborative learning environment. Students interact with their peers who share their enthusiasm for learning, fostering a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition. Our dedicated teachers are well-versed in working with gifted students, tailoring instruction to meet their individual needs and providing the necessary challenges and enrichment opportunities to ensure continuous growth.
