Dear District 20 Community,
It is with great pleasure that I present to you the District 20 Arts Showcase 2021 (link below). I am so grateful to all our arts teachers for your enthusiastic support of this event. Without you this could not have been accomplished! Your resilience and the gifts you give our students through an Arts Education are so important!
To all teachers, I hope you will share the site (often) in class with your students. Each page is set up with a mini-video which gives an overview of the art submissions by grade category. There are also many AMAZING(!!) Visual and Performing Arts Compilations. Please visit often. You can even start or end your class with one of the videos or slide shows if you want to mix it up and add something festive to the day.
I apologize profusely to anyone who is not fairly represented. Sometimes uploads/downloads did not work as expected. Please bring any issues to my attention (i.e. submitted, but missing student work, mislabeled work, etc.). I will do my best to update the site as these issues are brought to my attention (and as my teaching schedule grants me time). I am also continuing to work on the mobile app and any glitches I missed. But I was determined to launch at deadline.
Thank you again to our Arts Committee who made this experience such an enjoyable collaborative endeavor! You have all left me smiling. Thank you Superintendent Pretto for embracing this project within your first moments in your position.
I will also take the liberty at this time, to once again thank the amazing teachers, administrators, staff and principals for the incredible education you give our children. Many of you have had my four children in your classrooms over the last fifteen years (PS 185, IS 187, IS 259). As I end both my CEC tenure and my time as parent of District 20 students, I want to express my immense gratitude for the quality education my children received which not only cultivated a love of learning, but also enduring friendships, and joyful memories of childhood.
