Dear Colleagues and Friends,
As I reflect on my professional journey, I want to take this moment to thank you
for being part of a most rewarding career in education. Over the course of 50
years with the Department of Education, I have cherished the wonderful
friendships I have made — as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and finally
as your superintendent.

For the past 13 years in District 20, serving the dedicated professionals,
hardworking students, and wonderful families has been a privilege, particularly
since I grew up in District 20, attending elementary, middle and high school here.
Supporting the work of outstanding administrators and staff — who are
passionately committed to providing the best learning opportunities for all of our
students, continually inspiring them and preparing them for a bright and
successful future — has been an honor. We have been able to accomplish this
with a talented, supportive, and skilled District Team. I know that they will
continue their commitment and dedication to the schools, nurturing environments
where all students are motivated to succeed.

As I approach my retirement date of August 31st, I know my career has been
enriched by your support, friendship, and our shared aim: to make a meaningful
and lasting difference in children’s lives.

I wish you all the best and continued success in your personal and professional
endeavors. I will think of the District often with fond memories as I begin this
next chapter of my life.

That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all.”
