Now, a note from Ms. Grater:
“Dear Parents & Guardians,
I have had a long and satisfying career in District 20, where I started as a paraprofessional and have worked 37 years. With that said, it is with a mix of emotions that after 14 years as Principal at P.S. 205 I am retiring on July 1, 2018. I could not have succeeded without a dedicated and supportive staff. All my decisions were based on what’s best for students and equity for all.
Words cannot express the joy I received as Principal of P.S. 205 for the past 14 years. Education was my passion. Nothing was more fulfilling than being put in charge of the education and well-being of your children. I have always said that students are the easiest part of my job.
There are so many initiatives I am so proud to have started at P.S. 205. First, keeping The Arts alive with two Art Teachers and three Music Teachers, ensuring all students get physical education and being a Move To Improve All Star School. Then getting technology throughout our school, including Smart Boards, classroom laptops, iPads, Smart Tables, NAO Robots, Dash & Dot Robots, Tynker & Code Monkey. It was so gratifying to see our students make progress in both the ELA & Math Stat Tests and watching our Integrated Model for English Language Learners and Departmentalized classes flourish. It has been so gratifying choosing The Books of The Month for 15 years and having a Growth Mindset take root in all classrooms.
I look forward to spending the winters in Florida and more time with my family and friends.
I am pleased to announce that former Coach & Assistant Principal Mrs. Mandel will be interim-acting Principal. I am confident that she will continue to build a community of learners that work hard to excel. P.S. 205 could not be in better hands.
I am excited and anxious about my new journey. It has been my passion to support our students’ growth and instill lifelong values both academically and socially. It has been a pleasure partnering with you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind words and support.”
